The city has seen a lot of youngsters who have graduated with degrees in subjects like engineering and science and have yet later on pursued their dreams and joined the glitter of the glamour world. Tanmay Shah's unusual story is no different.
Until two years ago, Tanmay - a computer technology graduate, worked as Research Associate with one of India's premier engineering school, the
IIT Bombay. However, destiny had different plans for him and the young engineer soon turned film maker when his first film got selected for showcasing at the International Film Festival. "That is when I decided to quit my job and pursue films fulltime", says Tanmay.
And wasn't there any sort of regret ever? "I don't recall any regret, but if there was any it must have gotten wiped away the moment I visited Dharavi in Mumbai. It is amazing how much a smile can communicate and how language instead can sometimes act as a barrier to communication."
Now Tanmay has mostly been writing scripts on social issues, some of his notable films are 'Change' and 'Wish' -both highlighting the plight of the transgender community in India.
Tanmay's next project is going to be to make 52 films during the year 2015 - one film a week. He begins from the first Friday of 2015.
