Gujarati cinema is preparing for a landmark moment as 'Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate' gets ready for its market premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The film will be showcased at the Cannes Market Screening, one of the most significant global platforms for film promotion, acquisition, and international distribution. The film is directed by Ankit Sakhiya.

The makers unveiled a special invitation poster featuring the message, “You Are Invited.” The artwork describes Laalo as the “Most Divine Blockbuster Gujarati Film Ever.” The visually striking design features a silhouette crowned with a peacock feather, a symbolic reference to Lord Krishna. The makers wrote, "This is not just a screening, it is a celebration of culture, cinema, and faith. Join us at the Market Screening of Laalo – શ્રી કૃષ્ણ સદા સહાયતે during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival as we bring the spirit of Gujarat to the global stage. We would be honoured to celebrate this special moment with you."

Cannes 2026 begins on May 12

The 79th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival will begin on May 12 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on the French Riviera. This year’s edition is attracting special attention because of the strong Indian presence across various sections and events.
Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia, who won the Grand Prix in 2024 for All We Imagine as Light, will serve as the president of the 65th Cannes Critics’ Week jury.

Indian celebrities to make their presence felt

According to News18, “Along with Tara Sutaria, Ammy Virk will also be making his debut at the film festival. While Tara will be representing a brand, Ammy Virk will be attending the screening of his Punjabi film, Chardikala, along with Roopinder Kaur Gill." Tara Sutaria and Ammy Virk are among the Indian personalities making their first appearance at Cannes this year. Ammy will attend the screening of his Punjabi film Chardikala, accompanied by Roopinder Kaur Gill.

Anurag Kashyap and Anubhav Sinha join the Festival

Anurag Kashyap and Anubhav Sinha will also be present at Cannes 2026 as per reports. Anurag has a long association with the festival. His films, including 'Udaan', 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'The Lunchbox', and 'Kennedy', have previously screened in sections such as Directors’ Fortnight and Midnight Screenings. With 'Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate' heading to the Cannes Market, Gujarati cinema is set to achieve a proud and historic global milestone.
