Photography exhibition draws leading creative voices in Kolkata

A photography exhibition showcasing a new thematic body of work opened on Tuesday evening at the Birla Academy of Art & Culture drawing leading figures from the worlds of art, cinema, literature, music and academia. The event marked the 15th exhibition by photographer Dr Kausik Ghosh and brought together artists and thinkers for an evening of creative dialogue and reflection.The exhibition presents a striking collection of images exploring the emotional and philosophical nuances of colour and perception through visual storytelling. The works invite viewers to reflect on mood, memory and human experience as interpreted through the artist’s lens.An informal panel discussion titled “Presence and Perception of BLUES” followed the inauguration, examining the significance of colour across creativity, spirituality, cinema, psychology and cultural expression. The panel featured Samik Bandopadhyay, Atri Bhattacharya, Chandra Bhattacharya, Barun Chanda and filmmaker Ashok Viswanathan, who shared diverse interdisciplinary perspectives. The conversation was further enriched by interactive remarks from members of the audience, including Abir Chatterjee, Ishaa Saha, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Premendu Chaki, Arghyo Kamal Mitra, Srikanta Acharya, Premendu Bikash Chaki and Ipshita Barat.Speaking at the inauguration, Ghosh said the exhibition reflects his continuing engagement with visual narrative, emotion and thematic exploration through photography.
