Taylor Swift says she's 'never not inspired' by Paul McCartney as music icons celebrate mutual admiration
Taylor Swift has publicly declared her admiration for Paul McCartney, calling the legendary musician an "eternally exceptional artist" and saying she was "never not inspired" by him. The 36-year-old pop star re-shared an Instagram post from McCartney, 83, on Tuesday, June 2, about his new album 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane', accompanying the share with her heartfelt tribute. The post came shortly after McCartney drew comparisons between Swift's global fame and the worldwide phenomenon of Beatlemania, further cementing what has become one of music's most celebrated mutual admirations.

What Paul McCartney said about Taylor Swift

Earlier, during an interview on BBC Sounds, McCartney was asked whether he would offer Swift any advice, given that she appeared to have reached the same level of global fame as The Beatles once had. "You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame," McCartney said in a clip posted on BBC Radio 2's Instagram. "The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had."He then noted that Swift was unlikely to need any guidance from him, describing himself as something of a grandfather figure to her generation. "I'm like the older brother to that generation, or more like the grandad, actually," he said with a chuckle. "If they need any advice, yeah, I would be happy to give it, but I don't think they do."McCartney also revealed that he had met Swift at parties hosted by his wife Nancy Shevell and daughter Stella McCartney, alongside other artists including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter. "They're really cool people, they're very good.
I like their voices," he said of the singers.

Paul McCartney's history as a Swiftie

McCartney's admiration for Swift is not merely theoretical. He attended her Eras Tour at London's Wembley Stadium in June 2024, where he was greeted by fans and handed numerous friendship bracelets on his way to the VIP tent. A clip shared by a fan on X showed McCartney throwing his arms in the air as he entered, prompting cheers from hundreds of Swifties in attendance. The pair's mutual appreciation stretches back several years. They appeared together in Rolling Stone's Musicians on Musicians issue in 2020, crossed paths at the 2024 Super Bowl, and have been known to adjust album release dates to avoid clashing, a gesture that speaks volumes about the respect they have for one another's work.
