The crowd strength multiplied on Day 2 of Lollapalooza India as fans travelled from far and wide to witness iconic rock band
Linkin Park headline the festival at the Mahalakshmi Racecourse.
The Linkin Park show Devoted fans huddled around the main stage from as early as the afternoon to secure the best spots for LP’s evening performance—and the wait paid off. Led by co-vocalists Emily Armstrong and
Mike Shinoda, and joined by Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell, Colin Brittain and Alex Feder, Linkin Park took the stage at 7.55 pm sharp, delivering a two-hour, non-stop set without a single break.

The crowd sang along for most of the performance, often overpowering the band’s own vocals in a moment of collective euphoria. At one point, a fan even climbed the stage rig high above the crowd to catch a glimpse of the band. The setlist spanned the band’s storied career, weaving together anthems like
Numb,
In the End,
Crawling and
Faint, alongside newer material such as
The Emptiness Machine and
Heavy Is The Crown.

“Thank you so much for supporting the band over the years, especially the new music. And thank you for patiently waiting for us and consistently asking for us to be here,” said Mike Shinoda, who also brought tour videographer Mark Fiore on stage to celebrate his birthday. Mumbai fans added their own local flavour, chanting “Shivaji Park” for Linkin Park, while one fan told Shinoda he had skipped his honeymoon to attend the concert.

Calum Scott
Earlier in the day, Calum Scott delivered one of the most heartfelt moments by bringing his mother on stage for
You Are The Reason. Pop favourites LANY filled the air with
Malibu Nights, while UK bass phenomenon Sammy Virji turned his stage into a relentless dance floor with
Daga Da.
Indian artists claim their spot While Linkin Park were undeniably the festival’s biggest draw—and perhaps even deserved a standalone show—Indian metal band Bloodywood stood out earlier in the evening with their high-octane performance. Playing on the same stage ahead of LP, Bloodywood had the crowd moving with their signature blend of metal and traditional Indian instruments.

A stalwart of the Indian electronic scene, Nucleya unfortunately found his set scheduled parallel to Linkin Park’s performance—an unfair clash that pitted him against global rock heavyweights.

R&B star Kehlani brought effortless soul with
Nights Like This and was joined by Indian singer Talwiinder on stage. The Punjabi artiste was accompanied by Disha Patani—the duo walked hand in hand and effectively making their relationship public. Actors Mrunal Thakur and Siddhant Chaturvedi, who star together in an upcoming film, were also spotted at the festival.

Beyond the music, the festival stood out for its commitment to inclusivity, featuring gender-neutral washrooms, gender-inclusive entrances, and security checks that respected pronouns—ensuring a welcoming environment for all, including the LGBTQIA+ community.
Litter festThe crowd, however, proved to be a major letdown in terms of civic sense. Despite ample dustbins placed across the venue, empty beer cans littered the ground. Some were even thrown mid-performance, hitting people in the crowd at random.
Commute woesTransportation emerged as another sore point. While attendees were encouraged to use public transport to avoid traffic, entry and exit gates were rerouted to the opposite end of Mahalakshmi station, forcing fans to walk nearly 40 minutes just to reach the venue. After standing for hours, the exhausting trek to and from the festival proved brutal.
