Russo Brothers confirm Chris Evans' Captain America to play central role in ‘Avengers’ saga
Chris Evans is all set to return to screens as the Marvel superhero, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in the upcoming 'Avengers: Doomsday'. In the clip that the Russo Brothers released in December, it seems to hint at the character leaving his fighting days behind him to play the role of a husband and father. Amid much chatter about the character's return to the franchise along with a host of other MCU heros, directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed that Captain America will remain a key figure in the 'Avengers' storyline.

Chris Evans to return as Steve Rogers

Speaking about 'Avengers: Doomsday', the Russo Brothers told Empire magazine that Steve continues to hold a central place not only within the Avengers but across the wider MCU narrative. While it is unclear if he will head to the frontlines for his upcoming battle, there has been buzz about the character sticking on to return in the follow-up 'Avengers: Secret Wars'.

Russo Brothers on Captain America's return

The filmmakers, who previously directed 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', 'Captain America: Civil War', 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame', described Rogers’ role as "deeply personal" to their own journey within the MCU. They said, "His central role to the Avengers and the larger narrative of what the MCU has been something that’s very personal to us. We can’t see this narrative without his central role in it.
