Miley Cyrus signals acting comeback after six years, says ‘I would love to go into someone else’s world’
Miley Cyrus may be best known today for her chart-topping music, but the Hannah Montana star is clearly open to returning to acting. More than six years after her last major on-screen role, the 33-year-old singer revealed in Palm Springs International Film Festival, that she would “love to” act again if the right opportunity comes along.

Wanting to step into someone else’s world

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked what kind of roles she would like to take on, Cyrus answered without hesitation, “Just tell them, ‘What do they want me to do?’ I would love to go into someone else’s world. I’m the boss in my own world.”

Her comment highlighted the contrast between her music career—where she has complete creative control—and acting, which she views as a chance to step into a filmmaker’s vision. Cyrus explained that acting excites her because it allows her to live different stories under someone else’s direction, rather than leading the process herself.

How she’s approaching the year ahead

Cyrus also spoke about how she plans her life and career. “I think of my life in quarters, so I like to think about who and what I want to be or do within the first quarter of the year and don’t think too far ahead,” she told the publication. She added that the early part of the year is often about celebration and closure, especially after completing work related to Avatar and reflecting on milestones such as the Hannah Montana anniversary.
“Then I’m thinking in the back half of the year, what could be,” she said, hinting at possible future projects.Cyrus rose to global fame playing Miley Ray Stewart on 'Hannah Montana' from 2006 to 2011. She later appeared in films such as 'Bolt', 'The Last Song' and 'LOL', before her last major acting role in 'Black Mirror' in 2019. At the festival, she also received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her song “Dream as One” from Avatar: Fire and Ash.
