Agartala: The crime rate in Tripura experienced a decline last year, reaching its lowest in two decades, said Tripura director general of police Anurag in a press conference here on Thursday

He said in 2025, there were 3,698 reported incidents, a decrease from 4,033 in 2024, and noted that overall crime has decreased by 8.3% compared to the previous year. “This year signifies a historic low in crime for Tripura over the past 20 years, reflecting the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and community engagement,” he said.
Notably, property-related crimes experienced a reduction of 16%, with 293 cases reported this year compared to 349 last year. Murder cases also saw a considerable decline, dropping by 18% from 116 to 95, while incidents of hurt and assault decreased by 14%, with the 2025 total at 699, down from 815, the DGP said.
Riot incidents fell by 26%, from 23 to 17, and crimes against women decreased from 724 to 665, he said.
