Met Gala 2026: Margot Robbie opts for a gold, stuns in a minimalist dress that took 761 hours to make

The Met Gala 2026, one of the most sought-after fashion events of the year, brought about some of the biggest stars in the industry under one roof. This year, ‘Wuthering Heights’ star Margot Robbie channeled an all-gold look for the white carpet that nobody could get enough of.

Featuring one of the most sought-after luxury brands in the world, Robbie wore a stunning strapless molten gold lamé gown that cascaded down to the floor. The accent piece was the flowy train that followed the singer and was cinched along with her bodice. What made this even more special was the fact that the train was lined up with delicate flower petals that were sewn into the borders.



Vogue also reported that the dress had 1,100 pieces of embroidery etched on it. All in all, to complete Robbie’s gown for the night, it took a total of 761 hours, which roughly amounts to an entire month of non-stop work. To complete her look for the night, she opted for more extravagant jewelry to balance it with her minimalist wardrobe choice. She wore yellow sapphires, along with yellow gold diamonds and spessartite garnets. As per the report, she also opted for rings, fashioning the Lion Emblématique ring and a Golden Braid ring from the same collection. Finalizing her look, she opted to keep her makeup neutral and kept her hair up in a sleek side bun.

This year, the Met Gala theme stood with ‘Costume Art’, while the entire dress code for the night was ‘Fashion is Art.’ The last time Robbie appeared on the carpeted stairs at the Met Gala event was in 2023, when she followed the theme of ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.’
