Taking to her account’s story section, the late actor’s wife had shared a link to a fundraising website and announced that some of her friends had set it up to help her. The caption had read, “My friends created this link to support me and my children during this time. With gratitude and a broken heart.”

At the time of writing this article, the fundraiser had managed to raise USD 774,310, completing almost 80% of the initial USD 1 million goal set up on the page. More than 13,000 donations had been shared with the family from across the world. Initially, the goal was set to USD 500,000; the amount was surpassed in 4 hours, and the goal was raised later on.In the description, it was revealed that the actor’s family had been struggling with financial issues for some time and had been trying to keep afloat.
It added, “In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future. The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds.”

One person who had donated some money shared that they had met the actor when he was working on ‘Dawson Creek.’ Their comment read, “I was a 19-year-old girl obsessed with Dawson’s Creek and went to Wilmington on Spring Break. James was lovely, and it made me even more of a fan!
