After ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, Daniel Kwan teases new sci-fi action comedy set for November 2027 release

Oscar-winning director Daniel Kwan received high praise for his directorial work on the hit film ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once.’ Since the film's release, fans have wondered when Kwan will return with a brand new film. Daniel Kwan opens up about his next big project

In conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the director revealed several reasons why his next work is taking so long. He explained, “So, one of the reasons why it's taking so long is because what we're feeling and what we're hearing from the world is very complex and really nuanced, and there's so much paradox.”

This project will be another eccentric work, according to the director’s words. He stated, “The only thing you need to know is we are trying to do what we have always done, which is listen very deeply to what is happening in the world and try to internalize that and make something really fun and entertaining that kind of reflects that story back to the world.”

However, Kwan also provided a definitive timeline, revealing the project is set for next year if all goes as planned. “We're about to shoot this summer, and it is coming out, if all things go to plan, next November of 2027,” he shared.

Daniel Kwan teases the genre of the upcoming film

Without providing too many details about his upcoming project, the filmmaker revealed that “It's going to be fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart. Very existential. All those things that you would hope that one of our movies would be. But as the world gets more complex, I believe one of my jobs as a storyteller is to meet the world where it's at.”
