‘Anaconda’ box office collection day 3: Weekend rush brings in low earnings for Jack Black and Paul Rudd’s film

The new ‘Anaconda’ film has been creating a lot of buzz amongst the masses ever since it was released. While the performances of the cast members have been well praised by critics and netizens alike, the film has faced low earnings in India ever since it was released on Christmas Day.

According to reports shared by Sacnilk online, the Jack Black and Paul Rudd-led film earned only Rs 1 crore on its third day at the Indian box office. The statistics are based on early estimates and are prone to change. The film’s total earnings in Indian theatres stand at Rs 3.40 crore.

Day 1 [1st Thursday]: Rs 1.6 crore

Day 2 [1st Friday]: Rs 0.8 crore

Day 3 [1st Saturday]: Rs 1 crore

Total earnings: Rs 3.40 crore

The film had a total occupancy of 17.55% in English, which was followed closely by Hindi occupancy, which stood at 11.75%. Tamil occupancy was higher on Saturday, and valued at 18.90%. Across all occupancies, evening shows showed the attendance and were extremely popular amongst the masses across the country.

The new film is about two unsuccessful filmmakers who decide to recreate the 1997 ‘Anaconda’ in the same place in their own way. They hire a hunter, along with an actual snake, to shoot the footage. However, on the first day itself, due to a mishap, the snake dies, and they’re stuck in the middle of nowhere. On top of that, an actual predatory anaconda starts hunting the group one by one.

The film has two major cameos from the original film. Ice Cube and Jennifer Lopez briefly return to the new film in cameos.
