Lata Mangeshkar: Iconic Bhojpuri songs sung by the legendary singer

Lata Mangeshkar has also been part of the Bhojpuri film industry and has sung many Bhojpuri songs. She has even given her voice to many songs of the very first Bhojpuri film made in the '60s, ‘Ganga Mia Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo’. 'Kahe Bansuria Bajaile'

Lata Mangeshkar's 'Kahe Bansuria Bajaile' featured in the very first Bhojpuri movie ‘Ganga Mia Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo’. The movie was released in 1963, directed by Kundan Kumar and starred Kumkum, Ashim Kumar and Nazir Hussain. It was shown to Dr Rajendra Prasad at a special screening organized at Sadaqat Ashram, Patna before its release. The film's theme was based on widow remarriage.

'Chanda Mama Aare'

‘Chanda Mama Aare’ was in the Bhojpuri film ‘Bhauji’, which was released in 1965. 'Bhauji' was directed by Kundan Kumar. The song even topped the weekly charts of the radio countdown shows. It was lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri and music by Chitragupt. Lata was the first Indian to perform in Royal Albert hall in 1974.

'Sapna Dekh Juda Gaile Jiyara'

‘Sapna Dekh Juda Gaile Jiyara’ is Lata Mangeshkar’s rendition of a Bhojpuri song from the movie ‘Mitwa’ in 1966. The music was given by C. Ramchandra and the lyrics were composed by Shailendra. The tune is a recreation of the song 'Dil Ki Kahaani' from the Hindi movie 'Sagai '(1951), sung and composed by the same artists. The song is played as a tribute to Lata Mangeshkar in many Bhojpuri functions.

It is one of the most iconic songs of Lata Mangeshkar from the Bhojpuri movie ‘Ganga’, released in 1965. The song melody was written by Shailendra and composed by Chitragupta.
