Shaheb Chattopadhyay is ‘super excited’ with the tryst with his new venture — Chetana’s new play. The actor, who is portraying the character of King Xuthus, has started rehearsing with the team. Written by
Bratya Basu, the play is directed by Sujan Mukhopadhyay.
While speaking about his experience, Shaheb told us, “I said yes to the stage acting to satisfy my soul as an actor.
All I have to say is that I am super excited. Stage creates an unspeakable feel-good factor around you. Theatre stage feeds the artiste in you. Everyone sees me in films and on TV. I have a range of experience. Earlier, I performed at Sydney Opera House in an opera on
Swami Vivekananda, Oneness – Voice Without Form. It was a production of an Australian theatre company. That was in 2013. After so many years, I am back on a professional stage, that too in Kolkata. It is very exciting for me.”
Shaheb is diligently following the rehearsal schedule. “I am working really hard. I am giving my best. I am learning every moment. The actors I’m working with are so good. It is a happy journey for me. We have developed a bonding. Chetana is a place to learn,” the actor added.
Besides Saheb, veteran actor Supriyo Dutta will be seen as Logician Glocaus and Nibedita Mukherjee as Queen Cruesa. Veteran musician Prabuddha Banerjee is composing the score. Speaking on the music, the composer told us, “For this play, I have borrowed a Chinese instrument from a fellow musician,
Joy Sarkar. It is called Zhongruan. It is going well with the play.”
