The official poster of the upcoming film Phonibabu Viral by Raju Majumder is out. Rooted in contemporary social reality, the film takes a light-hearted yet thought-provoking look at the impact of smartphones, social media, and the culture of going viral.
Set in a modern-day village where technology has reached every household, the story revolves around 75-year-old Phonibabu, a man who once dedicated his life to building a secure future for his family. Ironically, in his old age, he finds himself neglected and seen as a burden—until an unexpected incident turns him into an overnight viral sensation. The film explores whether this sudden digital fame changes his standing in real life or simply highlights the gap between virtual recognition and human values.
Phonibabu Viral blends humor with social commentary, contrasting “reel” life with “real” life. The film features an ensemble cast including Subhasish Mukherjee, Roshni Bhattacharya, Kharaj Mukherjee, Kanchan Mullick and others.
