FIR against Sadhvi Pragya following her remarks that she helped raze Babri Masjid

BHOPAL: An FIR was registered against BJP’s Bhopal candidate and Malegaon blast-accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh on Monday following her statement, boasting that she climbed atop 'the structure' in Ayodhya and helped demolish it.

District election officer, Bhopal Sudam Khade said, “An FIR was registered for poll code violation under section 188 of

Indian Penal Code

(IPC) over the remarks made by Pragya Singh Thakur regarding Ayodhya structure after the reply filed by her was not found satisfactory”.

Sources said that in her reply against the notice issued by the district election officer, Pragya had claimed that she made the alleged statement when she was not a candidate as she had not filed the nomination, this was however not accepted by the district election officer.

It is noteworthy that taking suo moto action, EC had issued two notices to Pragya Singh on Saturday and sought her reply. The first notice was issued over her statement made against 26/11 martyr

wherein she had cursed 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare a month before he was killed by terrorists during a political programme on April 18.

The second notice was issued after Sadhvi Pragya made another controversial remark to a TV channel while campaigning in Bhopal on Saturday. Asked if the Mandir will be built at Ramjanmbhoomi, she said. “Definitely. A grand one. We will build the temple. After all, we went to demolish the structure.”

She boasted about her role in it. “I climbed atop the structure to break it. I am tremendously proud that God gave me the opportunity and the strength to do it. And I did it. We wiped off a blot on the country. Now, we will build the Ram temple there (Maine dhanche pe chadh ke toda tha. Mujhe bhayankar garv hai ki Ishwar ne mujhe avsar diya aur shakti di aur maine yeh kam kar diya. Ab wahin Ram Mandir banayenge),” she said.

Following her replies, district election officer sent his report to chief electoral officer in the case pertaining to the remark over Hemant Karkare and ordered an FIR in connection with Babri remarks made by Pragya Singh Thakur under section 188.
