MANALI: In an effort to encourage adults to make their voter IDs and to increase voter turnout by ensuring participation of maximum people, the Kullu administration has started sending postcards to the heads of the families and associations.
The Kullu district election office under Election Commission’s Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme is sending postcards to voters from remote villages. The postcard campaign was officially launched on Friday in Kullu.
District electoral officer-cum-deputy commissioner Yunus said the postcards are being sent to heads of the families, presidents of various social organizations, yuvak mandal and mahila mandals. “In the postcards, we have appealed to the heads to ask all eligible people to get their names registered on the electoral roll if not done so far. We have also urged them to exercise their franchise and motivate others to do the same,” he said.
