Pala Assembly Election Results 2026: Jose K Mani loses as Mani C Kappen retains stronghold by 2,991 votes
In a major upset in Pala, Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K. Mani suffered defeat in his party’s traditional bastion during the Kerala Assembly elections on Monday.
UDF-backed Independent Mani C Kappen retained the seat, defeating Mani by a margin of 2,991 votes in a closely watched triangular contest. BJP candidate Shone George, the party’s state vice-president, also made significant inroads, influencing the outcome.
Kappen secured 50,799 votes, while Mani polled 47,808. George garnered 35,304 votes, marking a notable rise in support that impacted both leading contenders.
Reacting to the result, Mani conceded defeat and acknowledged the electorate’s decision, stating that the verdict reflected a broader pro-UDF sentiment in the state after a decade of LDF rule. He said the party would undertake a detailed review to understand the reasons behind the setback.
The loss is part of a wider setback for the Kerala Congress (M), which failed to secure victory in any of the 12 seats it contested, underscoring a challenging election for the party.
