NDA, BJP lead in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as counting progresses
Across four states, counting is well underway with leads taking shape in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, crossing the majority mark if these leads hold. Congress-led alliance is at a tally of 22, all leads and no wins declared yet, while independent and other party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leads. NDA trails with a tally of 55, leading in all 55 seats with no wins declared. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in Tamil Nadu with a tally of 115, needing 3 more to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. In West Bengal, BJP leads the 294-seat contest with a tally of 179, having won 11 and leading in 168, well past the 148-seat majority mark on current tallies. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 wins and 104 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA has a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly, with 13 seats won and 5 leads, crossing the 16-seat majority mark on current tallies. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leading, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in the union territory.
