RB Horangee, St Felix School shine at the Open National Taekwondo Championship

Pune: Players from R B Horangee and St Felix High School delivered a dominant performance at the 4th Open National Taekwondo Championship, clinching a combined haul of 35 gold, 40 silver, and 15 bronze medals to finish first overall. The athletes excelled across multiple disciplines, including kyorugi, poomsae, speed kick, speed punch, jump kick breaking, self-defence, and hapkido, showcasing depth and versatility.

The national-level championship drew over 1,300 participants from states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Newly elected corporator Yogesh Mulik, Narayan Galande, Shweta Galande, Kavita Galande, social worker Maruti Galande, Mahendra Garande, Sandip Jarad, Pramod Nimhan, Vinayak Nimhan, Shantanu Galande, Vilas Galande, Eknath Bhandari, Tirupati Bhandari, Basavraj Bhandari and other several civic representatives and social leaders attended the event and congratulated the winners, while former corporator Shrinath Bhimale sent his wishes through a letter.

The tournament was attended by eminent Grand Masters and Masters from the taekwondo fraternity. Organisers acknowledged the support of Daksh Ramesh Adhav and the efforts of officials and volunteers, including Sarang Dhoka, Yogesh Mudaliar, Srinivas Kedgoni, Aarti Pasarkar, Swati Bhandari, Rakhee Kedgoni, Vinod Bangar, Girish Patil, Vandana Bangar, Yogesh Kulkarni, Rajendra Salunkhe, Vishal Gavte, Deepak and Sangeeta Kangade, Vaibhav Naikwade, Dr Payal Karkhile, Dr Supriya Kulkarni, and Bridget Patil, among others.

A large contingent of players from R B Horangee and St Felix contributed to the medal tally, including Tanisha Mudaliar, Krish Kedgoni, Preet Wandre, Tanishk Bangar, Manas Pasarkar, Geet Lunkad, Neil Dhoka, Sarvesh Kedgoni, Sumedha Sakhare, Tejaswini Kangade, Anvi Bangar, Sneha Mandge, Girish Bagalkot, Parshuram Pawar, Sai Jadhav, Priya Salve, Drishti Rokade, Sanvi Jadhav, Swaliha Khan, Kruti Dave, Zoe Annum, Sanvi Sonorikar, Ayushree Gade, Mrunmayee Patil, Kavya Kadam, Advika Kamble, Vanessa Jadhav, Pranjal Kanade, Riddhi Sharma, Siddhi Sharma, Aditi Ovhal, Arisha Risaldar and Rajratna Deokar.

The medal winners were felicitated by Provincial Head Sister Ursula Pinto, Sister Jennifer Pereira, School Manager Sister Rosemary Almeida, Principal Leena Paul, Sister Elsa, Bela D’Silva, and PT teachers Sonali Rajebhosale and Rupali Bansode. The championship was organised under the guidance of Master Ravindra Bhandari, who was credited for mentoring the players throughout the competition.
