MUMBAI: For lakhs of state board students in the city, Friday marked the end of a long and tense wait for their SSC results. But due to a technical glitch in the system, Megha Shah had to spend a nerve-wracking 24 hours before she learnt that she scored a high 91.81% on Saturday.
For the speech and hearing impaired 17-year-old who studied in a regular school with no special facilities to cater to her needs, Shah's high percentage is a testimony to her will to succeed.
Her principal, teachers and friends at J B Khot School in Borivli (W) will be felicitating her.
"By reading lips and through sign language, Megha would take down the notes that were given in class. At home, her private tutor and I would sit with her and go through the day's work," said her mother Sonali.
Shah learnt of her success on Saturday when a family member paid a visit to the board office in Vashi to access her marks. She is determined to sit for the Class XII examination, and wants to pursue a course in computer animation after that," said her father, Manish.
