According to exit polls conducted on Saturday, the Congress party is poised to make a triumphant return in Haryana after being out of power for a decade. The surveys indicate that the party is likely to secure a decisive mandate in the state.
Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, where assembly elections were last held 10 years ago, the Congress-National Conference alliance appears to be in a formidable position. The exit polls suggest that this alliance may have the numbers to form the next government in the state.
The results of these exit polls, if accurate, would mark a significant shift in the political landscape of both Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress party, which has been in the opposition in Haryana for the past 10 years, is hoping to capitalize on these predictions and regain its foothold in the state.

The voter turnout in the recently concluded Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election, which was conducted in three phases, reached 63.8%. This figure surpasses the 58.6% turnout recorded in the Union Territory during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. However, it falls short of the approximately 65.4% polling recorded in the 2014 assembly polls, which excluded the four assembly seats that were then part of Ladakh, now a separate Union Territory.
In the third and final phase of the election, the turnout based on EVM votes was nearly 69.7%. This represents only a slight increase compared to the figure released by the Election Commission at 11.45 pm on Tuesday. Sources attribute this to a deliberate effort by the EC to ensure that district election officers update the voting turnout figures in its app by the end of the polling day.
