The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate or CUET UG syllabus for 2026 session. If you are a student planning to appear for CUET UG next year, you can now download the subject-wise syllabus by visiting the official website, cuet.nta.nic.in. The upcoming exam is expected to be held in May 2026.
CUET UG is the main entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses in central universities and several other participating institutions across India.
With the syllabus now available well in advance, students have more time to organise their studies in a better way. The document clearly lists the topics that will be covered in each subject, leaving little room for doubt. The National Testing Agency has asked candidates to go through the syllabus carefully and plan their preparation around it. For most domain subjects, the syllabus matches what students study in Class 12. To avoid confusion and extra pressure, students should prepare only from the official syllabus released by the National Testing Agency.
The syllabus is divided into different sections. These include Languages, Domain Subjects, and the General Test.
Language subjects include English and several other Indian and foreign languages. This section mainly checks how well students understand what they read. It checks basic vocabulary and grammar as well. A few questions also test simple writing skills. Overall, the language paper looks at how clearly a student can read and use words and sentences correctly.
Domain subjects are based on topics which are taught in Classes 11 and 12. These include subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Computer Science, and Environmental Studies. For each subject, NTA has released a separate PDF. These PDFs clearly mention all chapters and topics that students must prepare for the exam.
General Test syllabus includes general knowledge, current affairs, basic mathematics, logical reasoning, and numerical ability. This section tests thinking skills and awareness of daily events.
Students are advised to download only the syllabus of the subjects they plan to choose. Reading all topics carefully will help avoid studying extra material.

The exam will have separate sections for Languages, Domain Subjects, and the General Test. Candidates can choose subjects based on the course and university requirements.
Each paper will have a fixed number of questions. Students will be required to attempt a set number of questions from each section. The duration of the exam will vary depending on the number of subjects chosen.
For each correct answer, marks will be awarded. Negative marking is expected for wrong answers, as followed in previous years. The exact marking scheme will be confirmed in the official information bulletin.
Students should note that universities decide how much weightage they give to each section. It is important to check the admission rules of the preferred university before selecting subjects.
