Ten held for ganja smuggling in Andhra Pradesh's ASR district, 255 kgs cannabis seized

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a major haul, the ASR district police seized 255 kgs of dry cannabis, Rs one lakh cash, two auto-rickshaws, two bikes and four mobile phones and arrested ten persons, including a inter-state ganja peddler and two minor boys near Pathaveedhi under GK Veedhi police station limits in the district.


The arrested were identified as Marappa, a native of Karnataka, Korra Ramesh, K Appa Rao, K Sandeep, G Yuvaraju, BA Swami, K Bujji Babu and Pangi Sukdev, all are native of Chintapalle Mandal in ASR district.

The police said that Korra Ramesh procured the weed from Odisha to supply Marappa. Ramesh used a boat to transport the weed from Odisha to the Andhra Pradesh border. Later, a gang tried to transport the weed from ASR district to another place in two-auto rickshaws and some youngsters acted as pilots of the ganja laden auto-rickshaws.

Based on the credible information, the GK Veedhi police seized the ganja and nabbed the accused. The investigation is on to nab a few others in connection with the case.
