Visakhapatnam: M Bharat Reddy took three wickets for seven runs for Kadapa and Rajanikanth hit an unbeaten half-century for Hyderabad as their teams registered victories on the first day of a veterans cricket tournament conducted in Anantapur cricket ground on Thursday.
Brief scores: RDT, Anantapur 68 in 18.5 overs (M Bharat Reddy 3/7, N Srinivas 3/10) lost to Kadapa Veterans 68/3 in 11.2 overs (G Srikanth Reddy 27).Nellore Veterans 96/9 in 20 overs (T Sunil Kumar 35 no; RA Swaroop Kumar 3/20) lost to Veterans Cricket Association of Hyderabad 100/2 in 15.4 overs (Rajanikanth 63 no).
Bullayya College win Red Bull cricket trophy
Dr L Bullayya College won the Red Bulls trophy district-level cricket tournament, beating MVJR Engineering College by 67 runs in Vizianagaram.
Brief scores: Dr L Bullayya College 227/5 in 20 overs (P Avinash 120, S Harish 57) bt MVJR Engineering College 160/7 in 20 overs (B Rajeev 3/26).
Andhra University wrestling teams
Andhra University is participating in the all-India inter-university wrestling meet to be organised by the Choudhary Bansilal University, Bhiwandi during March. While the men’s event is from March 7 to 10, women’s event will be held from March 14 to 16.
Teams (Men): BB Babu, G Ram Charan Teja, KR Reddy, R Shivaji, K Sai, P Ramu, T Ganesh and K Manikanta. Women: G Kavita, K Mahalakshmi, Hemalatha, N Sowmya and P Venkata Padma. The men’s meet will be held from March 7 to 10 and the women’s meet from March 14 to 16.
