Visakhapatnam: Andhra recorded 459 for nine declared against Delhi on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi on Wednesday. Dehli were 19 for one at stumps.
Four batters scored valuable knocks as Delhi bowlers failed to put pressure on Andhra. The day’s play started one hour behind schedule due to fog and played ended early due to bad light.
Andhra resumed at 203 for three with captain GH Vihari on 76 and KS Bharat on seven and the captain left early adding nine runs to his score while Bharat played a fine 80 and pushed the score along. His best stand was 68 for the sixth wicket with K Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored 66. Then Shoaib Md. Khan came out with another breezy knock of 78 and the two added 86 runs for the seventh wicket, frustrating the Delhi bowlers. He then added 38 runs for the eighth wicket with KV Sasikanth.
Andhra, needing an outright win to have a shot at the knockout stage, have to grab quick wickets on the third day morning and if their bowlers do well all through the day, make Delhi follow on.
Brief scores: Andhra 459/9 decl in 133.2 overs (GH Vihari 85, CR Gnaneshwar 81, KS Bharat 80, Shoaib Mohammed Khan 78, K Nitish Kumar Reddy 66; Hrithik Shokeen 4/114) vs Delhi 19/1 in 9 overs.
