Vizag police destroy over 52,000 kgs of seized dry cannabis
Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam range police on Wednesday destroyed massive quantity of seized narcotic substances including 52,336 kg of dry cannabis and 142 litres of hash oil related to 783 cases from Anakapalli and Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) districts through incineration at the Coastal Waste Management Project in Parawada, Anakapalle district. The police say that the destroyed narcotics valued more than Rs 50 crore in the retail market.Of the total quantity of destroyed narcotics, 35,268 kgs of ganja and 132 litres of hashish oil are related to 451 cases from ASR district, and the 17,068 kg of ganja and 10 litres of hashish oil are related to 332 cases from Anakapalli district.

Visakhapatnam Range IG Gopinath Jatti along with ASR district police chief Amit Bardar and Anakapalli district police chief Tuhin Sinha emphasized the multi-pronged strategies adopted for ganja eradication and the remarkable results achieved. Gopinath Jatti said police raids in the past 20 months have crippled ganja smuggling networks and registered 976 cases, and arrests 2,405 persons, seized 55,346 kgs of dry cannabis and 56 kgs of Hashish oil and 685 vehicles, which were used to transportation of the narcotics and busted 24 interstate networks gangs.The assets worth Rs 9.19 crore of the ganja smugglers were seized under the NDPS Act, illegal assets acquired through narcotics trade were targeted belonging to 14 prime accused have been identified, frozen, and confirmed through official orders, he added.
