Deepika, a final-year PG student at Siddhartha Medical College and duty doctor in the anaesthesia department at Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, died on February 5 after allegedly administering herself a fatal injection.
Investigators analysed phone records and WhatsApp communication, finding that Deepika made a call to Amar Sahasya around midnight on February 4, shortly before the incident. Police concluded the death was a suicide but suspect that Amar's alleged relationship with Deepika, while preparing to marry another woman, may have caused emotional distress.
The case gained attention after Deepika's father demanded action and pursued the matter for nearly a month. Police said the arrest marks a major step forward, with further questioning underway to establish the sequence of events and Amar's role in the circumstances leading to her death.
