Officials crack down on milk adulteration, samples sent for tests in Rayalseema
Tirupati: Food safety and officials from the vigilance dept carried out a special drive of inspections at milk parlours at Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur on Wednesday. The inspection drive comes in the wake of five deaths and mass hospitalisation of people reported at Rajahmundry due to alleged consumption of adulterated milk. Following the orders of Kadapa district collector Dr Sreedhar Cherukuri, food safety officials inspected multiple milk parlours at Kadapa and collected samples that were sent for examination. Food safety officer Tasleem and her team inspected various milk parlours and local dairies at Anantapur on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters, food safety officials stated that unauthorised vendors supplying milk must also obtain FSSAI licences mandatorily. Officials also examined milk chilling methods adopted by various local dairies and cautioned them to strictly adhere to the food safety norms. Meanwhile, food safety officials along with the vigilance teams also inspected milk parlours across Kurnool city on Wednesday.
