Investigators said Rajesh, with multiple cases already registered against him, planned the theft soon after his bail. He reportedly travelled to Ongole for a sports event and allegedly carried out the burglary on his return journey, timing his movements to avoid suspicion.A joint operation by Ponnur and Eluru police led to his arrest, with officers recovering nearly 10 kilograms of stolen silver. Police suspect part of the stolen gold has already been disposed of.The case took a political turn after Rajesh confessed to hiding some of the stolen gold at the residence of a sarpanch in Eluru district. Police detained the sarpanch for questioning and launched further inquiries into his alleged role in concealing the property.Officials said further investigation is underway and more recoveries are expected.
