Family hosts lavish 158-dish Sankranti feast for son-in-law in Andhra Pradesh - watch
GUNTUR: In a delightful celebration of Telugu family traditions and the Sankranti spirit, a family from Tenali town in Andhra Pradesh treated their newly-wed son-in-law to an extraordinary feast that has captured widespread attention.Businessman Vandanapu Muralikrishna and his wife Madhavilata arranged a grand Sankranti lunch for their daughter Maunika’s husband, Sridatta, who hails from Rajamahendravaram in the Godavari region.

This was the couple’s first Sankranti together after their marriage last year, prompting the in-laws to honor the popular custom of lavishly pampering the “Godavari son-in-law.” The highlight of the celebration was an astonishing spread of 158 different varieties of dishes — all served traditionally on banana leaves. The elaborate menu included a wide array of festive favorites such as various types of pulihora, garelu, bobbatlu, multiple vegetable curries, pachadis, dals, sweets, snacks, and several traditional Godavari and coastal Andhra delicacies.
