Elderly couple dies by suicide in Kuppam

Tirupati: An elderly couple ended their lives by committing suicide in Vepuru village of Kuppam mandal in Chittoor, on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Yellamma (52) and Ramappa (60).According to the Kuppam police, Yellamma first hanged herself in a mango orchard on the outskirts of Vepuru village. Unable to bear the trauma of his wife's suicide, Ramappa also hanged himself at a local farmland, just hours after his wife's death. Kuppam police, who learnt about the couple's suicides, shifted the bodies for post-mortem to the govt general hospital. Police registered a case and are further investigating. Preliminary probe revealed that Yellamma and Ramappa led a disturbed family life, and their dejection drove them to the verge of suicide.
