Tirupati: An assistant sub-inspector with the Andhra Pradesh Special Protection Force (APSPF) was placed under suspension after he created a ruckus in an inebriated state over a plate of chicken. The incident, which occurred in Satyanarayanapuram locality of Tirupati, has drawn sharp criticism and caused significant embarrassment to the police department.The drama unfolded when G Sriramulu, who is stationed at Tirumala, approached a local curry point while under the influence of alcohol. After ordering chicken curry and waiting for it to be packed, Sriramulu attempted to leave the establishment without paying. When the restaurant staff demanded payment, the officer falsely claimed that he was stationed at Alipiri police station and that his circle inspector had ordered the food. He then insisted that his status as a policeman exempted him from paying.As Sriramulu was in plain clothes and visibly intoxicated, the curry point staff became suspicious. Meanwhile, some onlookers at the eatery contacted their acquaintances at Alipiri police station to verify his identity. As the situation escalated, Sriramulu engaged in an argument with a customer, which quickly degenerated into a physical brawl.The entire confrontation, including Sriramulu’s attempts to intimidate both the restaurant staff and locals, was captured on video. The footage spread rapidly across social media platforms, sparking outrage. Alipiri police officers soon reached the spot and took Sriramulu into custody. He was administered a breathalyzer test, which officially confirmed he was intoxicated. Following directives from Tirupati SP L Subbarayudu, Alipiri police registered a case against him to proceed with legal action.An internal inquiry further confirmed that Sriramulu instigated the brawl demanding free food and abused his authority. Following the report’s findings, APSPF inspector general BV Rami Reddy issued official orders suspending Sriramulu with immediate effect.
