Visakhapatnam: The seven master plan roads taken up by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) to facilitate smooth traffic to the upcoming Bhogapuram international airport are likely to be completed by the end of May, ahead of the inauguration of the airport.
VMRDA chairman M Pranav Gopal and metropolitan commissioner N Tej Bharath reviewed the progress of works zone-wise during an engineering section review meeting, said as per the directions of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the priority master plan roads connecting to Bhogapuram airport will be completed by the end of May, in time for the commencement of airport operations.
"The main objective of expanding these roads is to ensure smooth and uninterrupted connectivity from the city to the airport so that commuters can reach it without any delay.
Construction works are progressing at a rapid pace, and the state government is giving high priority to these projects. In accordance with government directions, VMRDA is also focusing on the development of roads and parks in all assembly constituencies within its jurisdiction," said Gopal.
Bharath said the widening works of the seven priority master plan roads undertaken by the organisation have currently achieved around 60% progress. He directed engineers to ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeline without compromising on quality, through close coordination among departments. He also instructed officials to make arrangements for foundation stone-laying ceremonies for upcoming projects and the inauguration of completed works.
