UP Police to get 491 new woman constables from Kashi
Varanasi: Following the Passing Out Parade on Apr 20, UP Police will receive 491 more women constables who have completed training at the police lines at Varanasi RTC. The women, selected through recruitment process, will now shoulder the responsibility of law, order and security.
Under Mission Shakti campaign, Nari Shakti will not only challenge criminals but also play a leading role in empowering women in society. Govt is providing trainee women constables with accommodation and food, along with indoor and outdoor training.
Mission Shakti is chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s ambitious scheme, focused on safety, dignity and self-reliance of women. Along with facilities like Mission Shakti, Pink Booth and helpline number 1090, these women constable passouts will take up security responsibilities after completing their training. They have been given indoor and outdoor training during a 9-month training programme.
Police commissioner Mohit Aggarwal said trainee women constables have been taught all aspects of policing along with physical training. This includes social policing, prevention of crimes being committed using modern technology, weapons handling, CCTNS, cyber-crime, forensic science, forensic medicine, history of Indian Police in the context of UP, police organisation, inter-departmental coordination, police functioning and discipline, criminology and crime control, investigation, police prosecution, police regulation, security, public order and arrangements, disaster management, traffic management, police radio telecommunication system, guard duty, prisoner escort, lockup duty, Constitution, duties of a constable, concept and importance of human rights, meaning and importance of gender sensitivity, women police and their role in police work, behaviour with women police personnel, ethics and accountability in police work, among a host of subjects. In addition, constables are also being taught about Shramdaan, yoga, sports, wearing uniform, identifying police uniforms rank-wise and methods of saluting.
He said that during training, women constables have been made proficient in soft skills, riot control, weapons handling and legal intricacies and their exams are currently underway. After the passing out parade, all trainees will serve as constables.
Additional DDCP, Ishan Soni, said the trainee women constables are residing in the 12-storey building and other barracks of the police lines, which are equipped with bunk beds, RO water coolers, canteen and coolers. ATMs of a bank are also located within police lines. A mess is also running here to provide nutritious food to the personnel.
“Becoming a soldier of Mission Shakti in police uniform, we will make every woman feel safe. Govt gave us opportunity, now we will contribute fully to the service and security of society,” said a trainee constable, Neetu Gautam. “We do not want to be merely police personnel, but representatives of change in society. Women constables will become the voice of women alongside upholding the law. We will take the resolve of women’s empowerment to every section of society,” said another trainee, Kavita Yadav.
Roshni Devi said Yogi govt is fulfilling its promise of women empowerment and their employment. The announcement of 81,000 recruitments will also give an opportunity to youth who are preparing.
“I am the first daughter from Munshi Bujurg village of Phulpur, Prayagraj to be recruited into police department,” said Sonali, adding, “Now other daughters of the village too ask about the police recruitment process. The transparent recruitment has given us the opportunity to stand on our own feet.
