North–South cultural harmony put on display at Namo Ghat

Varanasi: On the 13th day of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, a grand cultural programme was organised at the open-air theatre at Namo Ghat on Sunday. The event was jointly organised by the North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Prayagraj, and the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Culture. Artists from Kashi and Tamil Nadu showcased the cultural unity of North and South India through a series of vibrant and captivating performances. The programme began with devotional singing by Nishchal Kumar Upadhyay and his troupe from Varanasi, followed by a presentation by Poonam Sharma and her troupe, which opened with a Devi song and later mesmerised the audience with a Dadra-style rendition.Traditional South Indian folk culture was highlighted in the third presentation, featuring Oiliyattam and Karagam folk dances by R. Satish and his troupe from Tamil Nadu. This was followed by a Bharatanatyam performance by Vaishnavi and her troupe from New Delhi, with artists Vaishnavi, Lakshmi and Pranathi impressing the audience with graceful expressions and classical aesthetics. The fifth presentation of the evening was a Kathak dance performance by Shivani Mishra and her troupe from Varanasi. The programme concluded on a high note with Dummy Horse and Kavadiattam folk dances by R Satish and his troupe from Tamil Nadu, filling the venue with energy and enthusiasm. The cultural evening at Namo Ghat emerged as a vibrant symbol of the confluence of traditions, reinforcing the spirit of unity and shared heritage celebrated through KTS 4.0
