Body of man with hands, legs tied found in sack near river in Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur: A 30-year-old man was found murdered with his hands and legs tied and his throat slit near the Aami River in Gorakhpur on Monday. The killers dumped the body in a sack near the riverbank in an attempt to conceal his identity.
The body was recovered near Semrahwa Baba temple in Bharsand village under the GIDA police station area, sparking panic among locals. Police teams, accompanied by forensic experts, rushed to the spot and launched an investigation to identify the victim and trace those behind the killing.
According to police, villagers noticed a sack lying near the riverbank around 7 am and informed authorities. When officers opened it, they found the body of a man. His hands and legs were tied with ropes, and deep wounds on his neck indicated that his throat had been slit with a sharp weapon.
The deceased was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. Investigators believe the murder may have taken place elsewhere and the body was later dumped near the river to destroy evidence and delay identification.
The forensic team collected samples and other evidence from the scene, while police began scanning missing persons reports from nearby villages and police stations. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.
SP North Gyanendra Kumar said further action would be taken after the postmortem and based on the findings of the investigation. He added that police are probing all possible angles in the case.
