VADODARA: At least 37,000 students from 250 schools converged on Samta Ground to prepare world's longest painting here on Sunday. The atmosphere was full of excitement as the children were eager to paint on the over 18,000 metre of canvas that was spread across 30 acre of land. As the warm sunrays appeared on the horizon, students pulled out their brushes to paint their ideas on the white canvas.

The theme was Swami Vivekananda and his vision for India and the event was organized by Swami Vivekananda Shard Shati Mahotsav Samiti (SVSSMS). The children were accompanied by their parents and friends. Within matter of three hours, the students prepared 17.85-km-long painting. The artist within the kids bloomed as they got down to make colourful paintings of Swami Vivekananda and his vision for India.
"We had expected 35,000 children for the event but the numbers crossed 37,000. We will now send the details of the event to Guinness World Records to get entry into several categories," said Bhargav Bhatt of SVSSMS. The organizers are eyeing record for world's longest painting, highest number of participants in painting event, longest painting on Swami Vivekananda and some other categories.
The kids used about 12,000 litre of acrylic colour and 6,000 pencils. Senior politicians and scion of royal Gaekwad family Samarjitsinh Gaekwad were there to encourage the children.
