Trichy: Trichy city police conducted their first flag march ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections on Friday. Around 180 personnel including 70 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel participated in the march.The march covered a distance of about five kilometers, starting from the Gandhi Market arch at 4.30pm and ending at the Anna statue circle around 6pm. It passed through Rock Fort, Chinna Kadai Veethi, College Road, and Amba Theater.The key objectives of the march are instilling confidence and reassurance among the public, maintaining peace and deterring potential law and order issues, preventing or controlling communal tensions, ensuring free and fair elections, building friendly police-public relations, and boosting morale and readiness.A senior police official said the Friday's flag march was the inaugural one and similar marches will continue across the city in the coming days. Similar marches were conducted in Trichy rural areas and in other delta districts, including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai on Thursday.
