Trichy: Trichy district has allotted 2,629 seats under the 25% reservation quota of the Right to Education (RTE) Act for admissions to entry-level classes in non-minority private self-financing schools for the 2026-27 academic year.According to district administration sources, admissions are being carried out under the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. A total of 261 non-minority private self-financing schools in the district identified 2,629 seats under the quota for LKG and Class 1 admissions. Against the available seats, the district administration received 2,990 online applications. Following scrutiny of the applications, 2,276 students were found eligible, while additional documents were sought from 688 applicants. Another 26 applications were rejected due to ineligibility based on submitted records.Officials said details regarding eligibility, requests for additional documents, and rejected applications were communicated to parents through mobile phone messages. The lists of eligible candidates and applicants asked to furnish additional documents were also scheduled to be displayed on the notice boards of the respective schools on Wednesday evening.In schools where applications exceed the number of seats available under the 25% quota, admissions would be finalised on May 22, as per government guidelines. Parents who submitted applications have been invited to witness the process at the respective schools from 10am on Thursday.
