Son of PMK functionary in Karur hacked to death

Karur: A 23-year-old man, the son of a PMK district functionary, was hacked to death following an argument with two minors on Wednesday night. Police arrested the two juveniles in connection with the incident on Thursday.Police identified the deceased as T Kavin, a resident of Vijayapuram near Mookanankurichi in Karur. His father, S Tamilmani, is the Karur district president of PMK. According to police, Kavin was working at a mobile phone shop in the area. Two 17-year-old boys from the same locality, who were employed at different mobile phone shops, were known to him and the three were friends.Police said on Wednesday night, the trio were returning home and were talking on the way when an argument broke out among them. During the altercation, Kavin attacked the two minors with a sickle. Enraged by the attack, the minors allegedly snatched the weapon from him and assaulted him. Kavin sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, police said. The Velliyanai police registered a case, recovered the body, and sent it to the Karur Govt Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination. Further investigations are under way.
