Trichy: SASTRA Deemed University organised its annual Thiruppavai-Thiruvembavai recitation competition on Sunday at the main campus in Thanjavur and the Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre in Kumbakonam.
The event was aimed to cultivate strong moral values, spiritual outlook, and hidden talents among school students, drawing enthusiastic participation from the region.
At the main campus, more than 20 schools from Thanjavur and nearby areas took part. Special guests Raman Balaji Bhattachariyar from Srirangam and Sivasri Sivanesan Othuvar from Thanjavur urged the students to follow the exemplary devotion of Andal and Manikkavachakar. The dignitaries also judged the contest and distributed prizes.
At the Kumbakonam centre, 17 schools participated. Madhavan Othuvar served as special guest and judge.
The competition is part of SASTRA University's continued initiative to promote Tamil devotional literature and cultural heritage during the Margazhi season.
