RPF launches AI-powered mobile app to enhance passengers’ safety
Trichy: Railway Protection Force (RPF), Trichy division, has introduced RPF Duty Assist, a mobile application powered by artificial intelligence (AI), to improve passenger safety and security through digital transformation. The mobile application was introduced on a trial basis at Trichy Railway Junction station on Sunday.Beyond traditional methods such as engaging a battery of personnel on station platforms, railway officials said that the app uses technology to help RPF personnel anticipate and respond to security threats in real time. RPF personnel, through the application, will receive timely information about trains that have a history of theft or other criminal incidents so that they can stay prepared. A backend team will also feed real-time information into the application based on inputs from security kiosks, social media platforms, and phone calls from passengers. Since timely alerts help RPF respond quickly and ensure effective security, officials said passenger confidence will improve. On Sunday, all daily circulars and updates were sent to RPF personnel through the new app. Real-time alerts on trains were sent and tested. RPF personnel were asked to provide feedback on the app. Officials said there are plans to integrate the app with Rail Madad, NTES, and RSMS to enable faster alerts and more effective real-time response.
