Trichy: The filing of nominations for the upcoming assembly elections began on Monday, with several candidates from Trichy and neighbouring districts filing their nomination to contest the poll.DMK principal secretary K N Nehru filed his nomination from the Trichy West constituency. In the affidavit submitted along with his papers, the minister declared movable and immovable assets worth Rs 3.12 crore in his name and declared Rs 4.57 crore assets under his spouse. Members of DMK and other alliance parties accompanied him from his house to the RDO office. K Bhuvaneshwari of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) also filed her nomination to contest from the same constituency. Across Trichy district, a total of 23 candidates — including those from recognised political parties — filed their nominations in the nine assembly constituencies.In neighboring Karur district, former AIADMK minister M R Vijayabhaskar submitted his nomination for the Karur assembly seat. Overall, 30 nominations were filed across four constituencies in the district. Notably, nine independents filed papers for the Kulithalai constituency. Meanwhile, in Pudukkottai district, nine candidates filed their nominations on the first day of the process.
