Trichy: A government bus nearing the end of its trip from Coimbatore was attacked on Monday night after a motorcyclist allegedly blocked the vehicle and pelted stones at it near the MGR Statue Roundabout.
The incident occurred around 8pm when the bus, which had departed from Singanallur with passengers on board, was approaching its destination in Trichy. Police said a 30-year-old man intercepted the bus on his motorcycle and picked a quarrel with the crew over an alleged overtaking issue.

He then hurled stones at the vehicle, shattering a window pane, before fleeing the spot. No injuries were reported among passengers.
The driver, M Kumar, 51, a resident of Karur, lodged a complaint at the Sessions Court police station.
Police have registered a case under Sections 296(b), 126(2) and 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for verbal abuse, wrongful restraint and obstructing a public servant. A search is on to trace and arrest the accused.
