Trichy: Minister K N Nehru on Saturday hit out at AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami for criticising the state govt for LPG shortage, saying it is an issue to be resolved by the Union govt and not the state govt.
"Despite serving as chief minister, he appears unaware of which authority holds jurisdiction over specific issues. On matters such as gas price hikes and shortages, it is the Union govt that must take action," Nehru said at a meeting of party district functionaries of Trichy Central and North units and its alliance partners. He said Palaniswami was making such remarks only to discredit the state govt ahead of elections.
Nehru said Stalin had been steering the alliance successfully while ensuring that the sentiments of all coalition partners were respected. The DMK-led alliance is determined to prevent BJP from gaining a foothold in the state, he said. A resolution was passed at the meeting condemning the Centre for the LPG shortage and for allegedly neglecting Tamil Nadu in allocation of development schemes. DMK would hold a demonstration on Sunday near BSNL office demanding immediate steps to address the gas shortage.
