K N Nehru famous for corruption, relying on money power: TTV
Trichy: AMMK founder T T V Dhinakaran on Saturday said that DMK minister K N Nehru, once known for his organisational skills, has now become "famous for corruption."
Addressing a rally in Trichy West in support of AMMK candidate Rajasekaran, who is contesting against Nehru, Dhinakaran claimed that the minister was relying on money power.
"The enforcement directorate has recently found corruption to the tune of 2,300 crore in his department. The ED has asked the Tamil Nadu govt to take action, but the chief minister will not act," he alleged.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhinakaran said, "As Modi said, all rivers eventually merge with the sea; likewise, all corruption money in Tamil Nadu goes to one family in Chennai." He also cited remarks purportedly made by minister P T R Palanivel Thiagarajan in a leaked audio clip.
Dhinakaran further accused the DMK govt of failing to fulfil its election promises or implement welfare schemes. "Whenever the DMK comes to power, there is scientific corruption," he said. He also alleged that the DMK was spreading a false narrative that the BJP is against minorities, adding that the party continues to win elections in states like Uttar Pradesh with support from Muslim voters.
Earlier, while campaigning in Thanjavur, Dhinakaran said the DMK's claim that the Delta region is its stronghold was incorrect. "Historically, this has been J Jayalalithaa's stronghold. We may have lost ground temporarily, but people must reaffirm it," he said.
