‘Stuck since night, rescued in afternoon’: Teen trapped in clinic shutter gap during theft bid in Ghaziabad; watch
GHAZIABAD: A minor boy attempting an alleged theft at a local clinic in Indirapuram ended up trapped in a narrow gap between a shutter and a wall, triggering a tense rescue operation by police and fire department officials on Saturday.According to police, the incident occurred in the Abhay Khand locality under the Indirapuram police station limits. The clinic belongs to a Delhi-based cardiologist, Dr Pawan Sharma, who visits the facility only twice or thrice a week. The premises remain closed except on those days. The situation came to light around 11am when clinic staff arrived to open the facility ahead of the doctor’s visit. Upon attempting to lift the shutter after unlocking it, they found it unusually jammed. As they tried to force it open, they heard faint groaning sounds from inside.Initially suspecting an animal might be trapped, the staff alerted a nearby practitioner, Dr Namit, and informed police. Dr Sharma was also called to the scene and arrived shortly. Accessing the clinic from the rear entrance, the staff was shocked to discover a minor boy stuck in a critical position — his torso inside the clinic while his head was tightly wedged between the shutter and the adjacent wall.
The video from the scene shows the boy immobilised. As initial efforts failed, the fire department was called in. Firefighters reached the spot around 1.15pm and conducted a rescue operation using specialised tools, managing to safely extricate the boy from the tight space. The rescue personnel were seen attempting to lift and adjust the shutter. The minor sustained injuries, including significant scraping on one side of his face. He was immediately administered first aid and taken to a nearby hospital, where officials said his condition is now stable.Preliminary investigation suggests the boy may have tried to break into the clinic during the night and became trapped in the process. Police are continuing their inquiry to determine the exact sequence of events, officers said.
