Trichy: Indian Institute of Management, Trichy, organized its 14th Convocation Day on Saturday, with Vijay Sankar, chairman of the The Sanmar Group, attending as the chief guest.
A total of 507 students graduated across programmes, including 407 from the PG programme in management (PGPM), 50 from PGPM-HR and 50 from the PG programme in business management (PGPBM). Three scholars from the doctoral programme received their degrees.
The ceremony was presided over by Jalaj Dani, chairman of the board of governors, in the presence of director (in-charge) Godwin Tennyson.
Presenting the annual report, Tennyson highlighted academic and research progress, including 56 publications in peer-reviewed journals and organisation of 17 research seminars. He noted strong industry engagement, with 66 experts contributing to the curriculum and more than 1,400 professionals trained through executive education programmes. Placements remained robust, with 274 companies participating and making 367 offers to PGPM students. Key sectors included banking and finance, IT and analytics, consulting, FMCG and manufacturing, he added.
In his address, Dani emphasised clarity in decision-making amid uncertainty, while Sankar highlighted resilience, persistence and social responsibility as key to long-term success.The institute also strengthened its global presence through collaborations with 16 international universities and retained the 16th rank in the NIRF 2025 management category, a release said.
Students also recorded achievements in sports and other competitions, including the third-place finish at the inter-IIM sports meet hosted by Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and joint national winners at the CFA Institute Research Challenge.
