2 held for assaulting man, son

Trichy: Two people were arrested following a violent assault on two others at Sirunavalur village in Uppiliyapuram in Trichy district.Police said Yoganath, 31, and his cousin Vinoth recently secured fishing rights for Sirunavalur lake through an auction. On Saturday night, they, began fishing operations at the lake along with some workers when Subramanian, 40, a local resident, along with Jayaraman, 32, and Raghu, 34, confronted them. The trio damaged the vehicle used by the labourers, and picked up a quarrel with them. When Yoganath and his father Manivel questioned their actions, the accused allegedly attacked them with iron rods, causing head injuries. The injured were rushed to the Thuraiyur govt hospital in a 108 ambulance.Based on a complaint, Uppiliyapuram police registered cases under various sections of BNS and arrested Subramanian and Jayaraman. Efforts are on to arrest Raghu who is absconding.
